Welcome to the Treasures of
Tulare County, California

    We invite you to discover, explore, and celebrate our county's unique and enduring legacy of land and people.

    The following video will give you a brief preview of some of the many videos you will find throughout the Treasure Tales.
    In the Treasure Tale pages, you will find stories of the astonishing variety of special places in Tulare County that have been conserved through the efforts of some truly remarkable residents and their fellow citizens.

    What are these Treasures?  They are dozens of intriguing places -- including natural lands, farms and ranches, buildings, cultural and historical sites, and markers of significant locations -- in Tulare County that are officially conserved (or ought to be!) and are open to the public at least some of the time.

   
    We have many Treasure Tales yet to write, as you'll soon see, but we're eager to start sharing them with you and receiving your feedback.  So we are publishing this website-in-progress, and anticipating that you'll check it often (What's New on the Website) to find new articles, videos, and tours.  And follow us on our Facebook page for news about events and activities at the Treasures sites.

    We hope you’ll share your own stories and pictures of your adventures along our county's Treasure Trails.  Just Contact Us and let us know about the Treasures you and your family and friends have found. 

   You can also nominate sites to be added as Treasures via the Future Treasures tab.   We’ll be delighted to check them out and add them to this website if they qualify.

 
    Each of these Treasures is a living heritage.  They offer opportunities to enjoy the beauty, history, culture, and diversity of Tulare County.  Their aesthetic, educational, historical, recreational, scientific, and ecological values contribute immeasurably to our quality of life.  They bring us visitors from around the world.   Truly we have a treasure trove to share in this enduring Legacy of Land and People.
